8. Pigazzini Hause

The building, constructed in the 17th century, was intended to be the residence of wealthy people and perhaps, as tradition dictates, of artists from the Gaggini or Borromini families (the nickname of a branch of the Castelli family).

Inside, we find insets and medallions framed by finely crafted stucco work.

Of note a fireplace whose upper part is adorned with stucco work which depicts cherubs holding a shield surmounted by an eagle.

Under the portico, behind one of the arches, a column holding up an architrave dating back to medieval times has been preserved.

Ancient column

The façade of the adjoining house (Casa Gianòla or Casa Barro) displays a coat of arms which must have belonged to the "de Castello de Bissone" family from whom descended the great Francesco known as Borromino.
