The history

The history

The artist, born in Zollikon (Canton of Zurich) in 1929, is known for his ability to define his works with moods, attitudes and customs from everyday life. In this work, gifted to the municipality by the family of Arturo Job, the fisherman is depicted in the ancient gesture of casting his line. He is the symbol of all the fishermen who, for centuries, have ploughed the waters of Lake Ceresio with their boats, day and night, handling the nets or tirlindana, defying the sudden winds that descend from the mountains.
