10. Casa Pigazzini
The building, made in the Seicento (17th century), was intended to be the home of a well-off family and perhaps, as tradition dictates, of artists belonging to the Gaggini or Borromini families (the latter being the name used by a branch of the Castelli family).
History
Inside, we find insets and medallions framed by finely-crafted stucco work. Of note a fireplace whose upper part is adorned with stucco work which depicts cherubs holding a shield surmounted by an eagle.
Under the portico, behind one of the arches, a column holding up an architrave dating back to medieval times has been preserved.
The façade of the adjoining house (Casa Gianola or Casa Barro) displays an emblem which must have belonged to the “de Castello de Bissone” family from whom hailed the great Francesco known as Borromino.
